A Bat Got Inside – What Now?
Somewhere in your home is a bat. Maybe in the attic, maybe a room, but it is there. It is a nuisance and a serious health hazard, and you need it gone.
Getting rid of the bat, though, may not be too easy. If you have no idea what to do, you are going to quickly feel overwhelmed and frightened. This is an animal that can fly around you and leave whatever space you are in. On top of that, there is the fear of bites or scratches from a scared bat, which means a potential to spread disease.
You want to take action immediately. You want to make sure you are doing right for yourself, your property, and the bat for the best possible results.
Find Its Location
If you do not know already, figure out where the bat is exactly. Before you can remove it, or start any plan to, you want to narrow down the location to one specific place.
You want to do this so that you can use its escape route against it. Wherever it is, even inside your walls, there is an escape route. When it goes through, you can keep it out for good. It is easy to do, too, so long as you do everything properly and safely.
Find the Access Points
Bats commonly get into attics, through which they can enter other areas of the home, including behind your walls. Their access point is going to remain the attic, the exact place through which they entered.
In rooms around your home, the access point is easier to spot and you may have more than one place of escape for them.
In all situations, you want to limit all areas of escape except one. Make it so they can leave through only one location.
Exclusion
With only one escape route, you can set up an exclusion funnel. Doing so will allow the bats to escape while blocking off their only entry back. When they leave, they leave for good.
Exclusion funnels and traps work exceptionally well. They are easy to set up and anyone can do this. There is little to no risk to you, too, so there are no worries about it.
